About The Figure Room:
At this newly curated space, The Figure Room stands dedicated for studying the human figure as a foundational pathway to understanding form through the body. Our intention is to provide accessible sessions supportive of the time and depth required to cultivate one’s skills. For this reason, each class extends four hours with a variety of timed poses and offers a range of materials for those wishing to explore alternative mediums at their own pace.
Although our opening sessions will be unguided, they are structured to invite introspection and experimentation. Participants are welcomed into a small, close knit community where practice and self discovery can unfold.
During breaks, artists are invited to browse a small library of art books on anatomy, classical drawing, contemporary art, and masterworks. This collection is meant to serve as a companion to the studio: a place to gather reference, and inspiration. Offering a moment to pause and reflect for a renewed insight when venturing back to the easel.
Mission:
Our mission is to create affordable classes that are intentionally crafted to support the individual through a sense of community. Our aim is to eventually expand outward into a larger space ,one that offers classes designed to nurture personal growth through creative practice, including those that may not exist in traditional institutions bound by non experimental teaching methods or hesitation toward artistic evolution. For now, with the space we have, we are committed to creating these classes here year round.
It is encouraged with your time at these sessions to seek mastery, and, in its truest senses to go beyond it and discover your own individual style through working from life. It is essential to explore yourself through your work , through your peers, through line, through sight, and through ongoing devotion in practice.
